dam decisioin

What I Think About Dams
Personally I think that dams are good to an extent. The only problem that we have is that us as human beings are way too greedy and don’t think of the environment that we will forever change.
Sure the water will give us more hydropower that is clean and can be recycled. The water that we use for the dams normally will have flowed freely down river but us now controlled is useful to us. Think about it when there are floods the river takes a lot of it away but if there is a dam we produce a very large amount of power and may just save some of the environment from flooding. The dams keep the environment in check if we only use the water to an extent.
The water that is made into a reservoir is slowly and gradually being let out to the ecosystem. There is a problem though we take too much water from the ecosystem when we make the dam. If we make smaller dams we could make it so that we don’t take so much water out of the dam and still keep the environment in a healthy order.
The water that we let get into the ocean from the rivers is a problem. The next thing that we will be fighting for is water and we are letting way too much out to sea. The thing is that if we reduce the amount of water that we let into the ocean and clean and keep it our water supply will not get short for a while. Sure the planet is covered in water but most of that water is salt water and that is not easily made to fresh water. Instead of taking the water from the aquifers that can not easily be filled with fresh water fast will be sustained for future water shortages.
If you have seen the movie “The Day After Tomorrow” then you would also know that our world climate is very delicate to the fresh water levels in the ocean. While we are sitting reading right now hundreds of thousands of liters of fresh water are being drained into the ocean. Like in the movie the world’s climate began to change because of that change due to the melting ice caps. We have known that our affects on the world through global warming would have consequences but we still have not stopped. This is why my idea of letting less water into the ocean from our river systems would be a very good idea and not only that we will also be saving a lot of fresh water instead of loosing it to the ocean.
All in all the dams that we have are good and bad. If we could make more and smaller dams so that we can save more ecosystems and create hydropower at the same time. The water that we stop from getting into the ocean will be able to be cleaned and used for future generation to come.

areal wolf hunting

In this essay / paper I will be talking about what I think about the good and bad affects of areal wolf hunting. Weather short or long term. The different types of affects are economic environmental ethics and the social/cultural affects on the world.

One of the economic affects that is positive is that the government will be making money off the licenses needed to do this hunting. One of the long term positive affects is that less farm animals will be being killed due to the wolves. The main long term affect of the hunting is that the wolves are the main attraction of Alaska but after they are all gone less tourists will come.

There is also the environmental affects on the hunting. One of the main positives is that the wolves prey will grow in larger numbers. There is a negative part of the increase of the population will cause the decline of the plant life in the area. In my mind the positive long term affect is that the wolves will sooner or later learn how to get away from the onslaught of the hunters. There is also the very dangerous affect of the long term hunting, the wolves might become extinct in the Alaska area.

Ethics is mainly a very bad sort of the wolf hunting. Sure the people think that they are helping the wildlife in the area by hunting the wolves but what happens when the population goes down too low for the predators to keep the rest of the wildlife population at bay? Another thing is that some are only thinking about the 150$ reward for each wolf. Sooner or later the people will not even kill for the population control the will kill for fun even when the population is already too low. Do you think this is good ethics?
To sum this opinion up the aerial wolf hunting is helping the wildlife populations but it is also not helping the possible overpopulation. The ethics of this is very low killing for the reward when some don’t even think about helping the environment. The economy will take the biggest blow from the underline of tourists coming to Alaska to see the wildlife. Thanks for reading my opinion.
